A trip to London

Yesterday, 4th September, I went to London.  It was cold and sunless and difficult to get in the mood. Especially when one is still slightly jet lagged and pining for sunny NYC.

I managed to get to Highbury and Islington, despite broken escalators on Bakerloo line.  What challenges life throws at us.  Enjoyed the tube after the horror of the NY subway.

Next stop, after a very nice welcome and cheap cappucino at Amici Deli, where I meet my fellow recycled teenagers, is Hackney Central.

We wandered past the fruit vender through St John's Churchyard.  The church was built in 1792, in an open field, north east of the medieval parish church, of which only St Augustine's Tower remains.  This is seen in the photo below.

Next stop is Sutton House.

This is said to be the oldest residential building in this part of London, dating back to Tudor times. See next post.
