Hurrah! Our daughter has arranged a Christmas present involving a trip to BFI
So here we are on a cold wet day sitting on a nice big train taking us to London.
First, we travel by underground to Walthamstowe
Next we have a delicious sourdough snack in Todaybread
Then meet the Girl Herself in William Morris Gallery
We really enjoy May Morris: Art and Life
William and May are highly inspiring personalities and I must make another visit when time allows
Now it's time for a nice long tube ride to the South Bank to BFI to see a film with my hero John Hurt
I loved watching him in I, Claudius all those years ago.
The film is The Field
This is a tragedy exploring themes of poverty, catholic dogma, male dominance and life in rural Ireland in the mid twentieth century. I loved it for both John Hurt's portrayal of a simple and dodgy local and the fact that it transported me back to childhood visits to that area.
Back home in the rain! A great day out. Thanks to JT.
