More London Exploration

Today is like winter and we get a lift in the car to the station.  My art historian is back to work and I start at the British Library with Punk 1976 to 1978.  The exhibition marks the 40th anniversary of the movement.   It examines the initial period which I must say I loved.  I was an angry young person and identified with the anti- establishment ethos. This era seems like yesterday to me.  However the TV and radio clips now seem very dated and sexist.  How sad all the Ramones have died.  As well as featuring seven-inches, magazine articles, radio interviews and videos from the period, the exhibition explores punk’s impact on fashion and design.

Then I take the Northern line to Embankment and walk by The Thames and parliament to Tate Britan to have a better look at the Turner Collection before checking out the mice in the Tea Shop.  I am reading about 'Turner - A Life' by James Hamilton at the moment and so far I like him.  I give him the benefit of the doubt about the family's treatment and presumed neglect of his mother and her mental health problems as we are not privy to the full facts  and have to consider the times.  You can read about his long and interesting life and work here
