A Christmas Present in London

It is a cold January day but we are very happy as our girl has arranged a Christmas treat for us.   First of all we are at Maiden Lane, Covent Garden where J M W Turner was born.   His father was a barber.  I believe the house is no longer standing.   J M W was a hero and today so are we.

We are in Grind.  Very nice coffee and cakes and I believe they do martini.  Next stop is a wrap at Leon
on the Strand.

Nice to see the skating this year at Somerset House

We saw an exhibition of the photography of the late Malick Sidibé from Mali.

Waterloo Bridge

SUPERFLEX, a Danish firm presentes the work Euro, 2012 on the billboard overlooking Waterloo Bridge.  The installation is the third Waterloo Billboard Commission, seen by tens of thousands of people crossing Waterloo Bridge every day, and is supported by the Danish Agency for Culture.  The Euro with it's value removed is a response to the Greek crisis of 2012. Feels very bitter sweet.

Next stop is Waterloo Tap where we meet up with the AH.   Bit of an issue with our booking for Rebecca so we end up seeing The Boy with the Green Hair, a 1940s American feel good film with a relevance today
Looks like Rebecca will be a home movie for February
The Understudy bar at the National Theatre is a great place with great beer.  The South Bank is amazing at this time of day.
Home by 10pm tired and very happy.  We all had great fun.
