Going North Again

A certain amount of confusion at Reading Station but soon I am cosily settled on Cross Country's answer to Easy Jet.
I arrive at Sheffield Station and take a break in the sun.  It's so much more tasteful than the dismal, grimy place I frequented as a student.

My patience is challenged when I am thrown off the direct train to Gatley because it's 'cancelled', then run for a Manchester train with a whole army of others in the heat and then get refused entry to same because it's 'full'.  Twenty minutes later I am crossing the Pennines.  Arriving Manchester, I see my connection pulling out.  I like stations so I'm happy to spend half an hour investigating what has changed and what hasn't at Piccadilly.

A hot walk along the A34 and here I am.  Soon to be refreshed by beer and chips.  More tomorrow!

Don't ask why I arrived in Greater Manchester via Sheffield!
